TARGETRAINING offers one of the country's premier testing programs in our Westport CT location.
For those interested in cycling, we start with bicycle fit
and provide every measurable along the way. For runners, we
start with foot and stride analysis (for the right shoe
and insole) and work our way through to ensuring your training
is on target. Swimmers are similarly provided for.
Triathletes benefit from this approach, as well.
From a training perspective, in order to arrive at your performance goals, it is critical to establish training zones and baseline measurements based on your physiological profile. To help you establish your profile,
TARGETRAINING provides various tests for its athletes.
From your tests, we are able to provide you with feedback that is appropriate: as a coaching client, you will get precise training zones and performance parameters; as client seeking ideal bicycle positioning, we will be able to accurately adjust your fit; for those who are seeking nutritional counsel, we will be able to customize our answers.
Our tests include the following:
- Bicycle Fit/Positioning and
Pedal Stroke; Plus Run Stride; Plus Swimming stroke analysis
Beyond getting that perfectly fit bicycle, we
use biomechanics to make you not simply comfortable but
efficient as well. We use the same techniques to assess you on a
treadmill or in a swimming pool, depending on your sport.
- Physiological performance profile: VO2 Max including power and heart rate zone testing
Uses an enhanced Nutraleaf/Medgraphics system (maximum oxygen capacity) and a Velodyne power-based bicycle trainer.
Our core physiological profile assessment, this shows absolute and relative maximum oxygen consumption (VO2) as well as VCO2. This analysis provides heart-rate zones, on-the-bike power (or run-speed), and anaerobic threshold (end of glycogen consumption).
- Resting metabolic rate analysis using Nutraleaf/Medgraphics system
Helps to establish your metabolic rate and therefore your caloric consumption.
- Conconi/ramp tests and 5,10,15, 20, 30, hour power using Tacx, Velodyne power trainers
and PowerTap 2.4
Shows you what you may expect in such efforts and helps establish realistic expectations when you are exerting yourself in race situations. Simulated climb testing on Tacx Fortius power-based resistance trainers. Shows you how you react to the stress of riding climbs and the type of power that you are able to sustain when utilizing your “climbing” muscle groups.
- Outdoor steady state, sprint and specific interval tests using Powertap 2.4
A less controlled set of testing parameters but the “real-life” setting provides added stimulus and information to give greater feedback when designing programs.
- Aerodynamic positioning tests using Use IBike Pro vs. Powertap 2.4
A key test for helping to optimize positioning for time trials and triathlons.
After your tests, we analyze this information to build your custom training zones and performance baseline parameters, helping you maximize your training time and track improvement.
